Report on the Celebration of the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026.

JCD Dental college , Sirsa a constituent college of JCD Vidyapeeth, celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga with great enthusiasm, zeal, and vigour. This year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” highlighted the importance of yoga in promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being across all age groups on 21st June 2026.

The programme was organized in the Multipurpose Hall and witnessed active participation from faculty members, non-teaching staff, students, hostel residents and other distinguished guests.

The Chief Guest of the event was Prof. (Dr.) Jai Prakash, Director General, JCD Vidyapeeth, Sirsa, while the yoga session was conducted by renowned Yoga Acharya Mrs. Sumita Sharma. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and an address highlighting the significance of International Yoga Day.

Dr. Arindam Sarkar, Principal, JCD Dental College, Sirsa, formally welcomed the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Jai Prakash, and the Guest of Honour, Yoga Acharya Mrs. Sumita Sharma. He emphasized the importance of yoga in maintaining holistic health and encouraged everyone to adopt yoga as a regular part of their lifestyle.

Among the dignitaries present were Prof. Ranjeet Singh,  Prof. Dr. Roshan Lal, Prof. Dr. Rajendra Kumar, Prof. Arun Garg, Dr. Kanwaljeet Kaur, Ms. Neetu Jhinjha (Warden), Dr. Satyanarayan, Dr. Kuldeep, Mr. Praveen Sharma, Mr. Mahabir (Coach), Mr. Ramkishan, and other members of the JCD Vidyapeeth fraternity.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Jai Prakash described yoga as an invaluable heritage of India’s ancient culture that has guided the world toward a healthier way of life. He highlighted yoga’s effectiveness in combating lifestyle-related diseases, stress, and mental health challenges and urged all participants to incorporate yoga into their daily routine.

During the session, Yoga Acharya Mrs. Sumita Sharma demonstrated various yoga postures, pranayama techniques, and meditation practices while explaining their physical, mental, and spiritual benefits. She stated that yoga is not merely a form of exercise but a scientific and holistic approach to achieving a balanced and healthy life. She particularly encouraged young people to practice yoga regularly.

Participants actively performed several yogic practices, including Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Bhujangasana, Vajrasana, Anulom-Vilom, Kapalbhati, and Meditation, with great zeal and enthusiasm. The session reinforced the participants’ commitment to adopting a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

On this occasion, Yoga Acharya Mrs. Sumita Sharma was felicitated for her remarkable contribution to the field of yoga. She was presented with a memento by Prof. (Dr.) Jai Prakash, Director General, JCD Vidyapeeth. Appreciation was also expressed to all faculty members, staff and students for their support in the successful organization of the programme.

The event concluded with a collective pledge by all participants to practice yoga regularly and to spread the message of health, wellness, and harmony throughout society. The programme ended with the singing of the National Anthem.

The celebration successfully promoted awareness regarding the significance of yoga in achieving physical fitness, mental peace, and overall well-being in line with the objectives of the International Day of Yoga, 2026.
