We need food, not Tobacco

JCD Dental College, Sirsa celebrated “World No Tobacco Day” on 31st May, 2023 with the theme being “We need food, not Tobacco” to create awareness amongst the students, faculty/staff members and patients.

1. A Poster competition was organized with the above mentioned theme in which the following students secured various positions on the basis of their performance:-

• Ms. Ananya Biswas , BDS 1st Year – 1st Position
• Mr. Abhinav Bajaj, BDS 1st Year – 2nd Position
• Ms. Deeksha, BDS 1st Year – 3rd position

2. Third year students and Interns presented a wonderful skit to create awareness about harmful effects of Tobacco. It was highly appreciated by everyone for it’s lucid and simple messaging coupled with humour. A Health Talk was subsequently delivered by Ms. Riama & Mr. Sudhanshu (Interns) to encourage Tobacco cessation.

3. The Chief Guest for the event, Prof. (Dr.) Kuldip Singh Dhindsa, Director General, JCD Vidyapeeth also emphasized the problems associated with uses of tobacco and asked everyone present to take a pledge to – Quit Smoking.

4. Dr. Arindam Sarkar, Principal, proposed the Vote of Thanks.

Later a march was taken out by the students to create awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco and encourage people in general to quit the habit of using Tobacco.
